Hello, Friends of Lamb and Oak! 🍁
I don’t know about you, but there’s a certain thrill I get when the air starts to turn crisp and the leaves begin to change. Fall is finally here, and I am absolutely soaking up all the cozy, comforting goodness that comes with it. There's just something magical about this season—whether it’s the rich, earthy scent of the leaves crunching underfoot, the first day you pull on a soft, oversized sweater, or the simple joy of sipping on something warm and delicious while watching the world transform into a canvas of reds, oranges, and golds.
Fall isn't just a season; it's a feeling, a mood that wraps around us like a warm blanket. I’m so excited to share some of my favorite ways to celebrate fall this year with you all. So, let's dive into everything that makes this time of year special!
Bring Fall Indoors with Cozy Scents and Textures
First things first—let's talk about the smells of fall. I love filling my home with the warm, inviting scents of the season. Think cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and a hint of orange peel. There's nothing quite like lighting a spiced pumpkin chai candle in the evening and letting that comforting scent fill every corner of your space. It instantly transforms your home into a cozy haven.
And speaking of cozy, fall is all about layering up! It’s that time when you can finally pull out your favorite knitted scarves, chunky wool cardigans, and soft woolen socks. This year, I’m obsessed with wrapping up in big, snuggly shawls made from the softest natural fibers. They’re perfect for everything—from a brisk morning coffee on the porch to sitting by the fire pit under the stars.
Getting Outside: Fall Adventures Await!
One of my absolute favorite things to do in the fall is to get outside and enjoy the stunning beauty of nature. There’s something so refreshing about heading to a local apple orchard or farmers market, picking a basket full of fresh apples, and then indulging in warm, freshly-made apple cider. And if you’re like me and love a bit of adventure, nothing beats a scenic drive or a walk to take in the breathtaking fall foliage. I could spend hours looking at a forest, the leaves crunching underfoot and the smell of earth and woodsmoke filling the air.
Create a Cozy Space for Fall Evenings
As the days get shorter, I find myself wanting to make my home feel even cozier. This season, I’m all about setting up a little reading nook—complete with soft blankets, plush cushions, and shelves lined with books just begging to be read. Add a softly glowing lamp and a cup of something warm, and you’ve got the perfect spot to curl up on a chilly evening. This could even be the corner of your couch.
A Recipe for Fall Comfort: Pumpkin Chai Hot Chocolate
Speaking of warm drinks, nothing says fall quite like a comforting mug of Pumpkin Chai Hot Chocolate. This recipe is super easy and so delicious—it’s like a hug in a mug!
Pumpkin Chai Hot Chocolate Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups milk (or any milk alternative you like)
1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tbsp maple syrup (or to taste)
1 tsp chai spice mix (or a mix of cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and cardamom)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Whipped cream or marshmallows (optional, but highly recommended!)
Instructions:
In a saucepan, combine the milk, pumpkin puree, cocoa powder, maple syrup, and chai spices.
Whisk together over medium heat until everything is well combined and warmed through—do not let it boil.
Stir in the vanilla extract, then pour into your favorite mug.
Top with whipped cream or marshmallows, sprinkle a little extra chai spice on top, and enjoy every cozy, chocolatey sip!
Homemade Crisp Apple Cider: The Ultimate Fall Sip
Another must-have in my fall drink rotation is a homemade apple cider that’s crisp, sweet, and just a bit spicy. Here’s how you can make your own batch at home!
Homemade Crisp Apple Cider Recipe
Ingredients:
6-8 medium apples (a mix of sweet and tart varieties like Honeycrisp and Granny Smith)
1 orange, quartered
4-5 cinnamon sticks
1 tbsp whole cloves
1 tbsp allspice
1/2 cup brown sugar (or more to taste)
10 cups water
Instructions:
Wash the apples and cut them into quarters (no need to peel or core them).
In a large pot, combine the apples, orange quarters, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and allspice.
Pour in the water and bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about an hour, until the apples are soft.
Using a potato masher, mash the apples and oranges to release their flavors.
Simmer for another 30 minutes, then strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
Add brown sugar to the hot cider and stir until dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.
Serve warm with a cinnamon stick or store in the fridge and reheat when you're ready for a cozy treat!
Fall Crafting Fun: Bring Nature Inside
If you're like me and love a good DIY, fall is the perfect time to get crafty. Making your own fall wreaths with dried leaves, acorns, and mini pumpkins is not only fun but also a beautiful way to bring the outdoors inside. And don’t get me started on all the possibilities with fall-colored yarns! Whether it's knitting a cozy blanket or crocheting a set of rustic coasters, there’s no shortage of projects to keep your hands busy on those chilly afternoons.
Let’s Celebrate Fall Together!
Fall is all about slowing down and enjoying the simple things. Whether you're out exploring nature, cozying up with a book, crafting, or indulging in a warm, spiced drink, I hope you find joy in every moment.
So, how are you welcoming fall this year? I’d love to hear about your favorite fall traditions and cozy moments. Share your fall-inspired photos with us on social media using #LambAndOak—I can’t wait to see what you’re up to!
